“Wisdom begins with respect for the Lord.” — Proverbs 9:10
PreSchool
We believe that each child is “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). Our teachers work to present meaningful opportunities for learning that encourage physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual growth in each child. We utilize developmental milestones and an exceptional phonics-based program that features cartoon characters, songs, poems, displays, and character-building activities.
Christ-Centered, MASTERY-BASED CURRICULUM
Our talented teachers follow a time-tested, Christ-centered curriculum (A.C.E. School of Tomorrow) which brings excitement to learning and promotes critical thinking and creativity while focusing on the success and talent of each student. At Yuma Christian Academy every child is diagnosed individually and placed on their own educational trajectory towards mastery of their subjects and individual development as a future graduate and citizen.
Early Kinder & Advanced Kinder
Our dual option Kindergarten program is based on a complete scope and sequence of concepts and skills that teach each student to read. Filled with Bible and animal pictures, coordination development activities, and full-color picture stories, children are excited and engaged in reading as they work through individual and group learning activities and curriculum. Students also learn social skills, the wonders of God’s world, and the reality of God’s love. Age, educational experience and/or early reading skills might influence which program your Kinder will attend.
Elementary
Each core subject consists of 12 PACEs (Packet of Accelerated Christian Education) per level. Typical students work daily on one PACE in each subject and may be performing at varying levels. For transferring students, their diagnostic test results help to identify academic weaknesses and prescribe a path to help students catch up. Core curriculum provides students with academics, skill building, reading practice, character and wisdom training, and knowledge of God and His Word.
Junior High
All students are treated equally, in a safe and supportive space, and inspired to be successful in their individual learning track, based on their diagnostic testing. Students who are more skilled may progress at a faster rate while slower students are able to work at their levels of proficiency while mastering each concept. In order to enhance the core curriculum, a number of other electives beneficial to academic growth and development are offered. Each of these courses adds interest and enhancement to the core curriculum and to other learning activities.
HIgh School
YCA offers a well-rounded learning environment where students can thrive as spiritual, moral, relational, academic and artistic individuals with bright futures. Our academic program is suitable for a wide variety of learners from those interested in beginning their collegiate journey early (through dual-enrollment at Arizona Western College), to those who need a nurturing environment to thrive individually while they complete their high school academic journey. Our students are encouraged to explore their passions, grow beyond their expectations, and achieve their own definition of exceptional in an environment of excellence fostered by kindness.
AWC DUal-Enrollment
YCA offers a dual-enrollment opportunity with Arizona Western College (AWC) to high school students who qualify and seek to pursue collegiate credit while still attending high school. The Dual Enrollment Program was established at AWC to ease the transition from high school to college and to increase the number of college-bound high school students in our communities. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Students who take advantage of our dual-enrollment program have the support of their high school instructor to navigate the initial requirements, assistance with their college assignments, and the ability to further their dreams under the supervision of a trusted partner in their education goals. We strive to give each student the greatest opportunity to succeed, from the day they enroll at YCA, to the day they graduate, including during their initial foray into higher education.
